About the Organization:
Earthlanka Youth Network (Guarantee) Ltd. is a pioneering environmental youth organization in Sri Lanka with 15+ years of experience in climate change, youth engagement, and sustainable development. We are currently implementing the Brtiish Council Youth Climate Ambassadors Program with n partnership with local universities. British Council is launching an exciting programme aimed at empowering youth in higher education to drive climate resilience, inclusivity, and sustainable development. This initiative seeks to equip undergraduates with the knowledge, practical skills, and networks needed to become ‘Youth Climate Ambassadors’ (YCA) in climate action, while also embedding principles of Equity and Inclusion into climate-related efforts.
- Location: Colombo (with travel to Jaffna and Southern Provinces)
- Duration: August 2025 – Mid-April 2026 (8 Months)
- Type: Full-Time Consultancy Contract (5 working days) – Flexible number of hours a day and working from home is possible in consideration of workload and prior approval
- Remuneration: Competitive – aligned with NGO sector rates (negotiable based on experience)

Project Manager – Youth Climate Ambassadors (YCA) University Project
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the YCA Project. The successful candidate will coordinate a dynamic team across multiple universities and ensure effective delivery of climate action projects, mentorship programmes, sub-grant management, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day management of the YCA Programme in coordination with British Council and other and stakeholders.
- Supervise project officers and ensure timelines, deliverables, and budgets are met.
- Organise training workshops, field visits, and student-led events in Jaffna, Jayawardenpura, and Ocean Universities.
- Oversee student sub-grants and mentor project implementation within university teams.
- Facilitate weekly reporting and documentation, ensuring alignment with British Council guidelines.
- Ensure safeguarding, gender inclusion, and environmental sustainability principles are upheld.
- Liaise with delivery partner organisations and honorary mentors (local and international) to support project quality.
- Represent Earthlanka in project meetings and climate-related forums as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management / Social Sciences/ Environmental Studies, Development Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project management especially managing donor-funded projects in the NGO or development sector.
- Strong experience working with youth-led or university-based climate/environmental initiatives.
- Proven ability in project budgeting, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and team supervision.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, inclusive education, and climate policy in Sri Lanka.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil bilingual capacity is mandatory and trilingual capacity an advantage).
- Proficiency in MS Office, digital collaboration tools, and familiarity with project management tools and MEL.
Desirable Attributes:
- Familiarity with British Council programme guidelines or similar international donor reporting.
- Strong background in community-based action research or climate-related fieldwork.
- Experience in managing virtual and hybrid (online/offline) mentorship and training programmes.
- Prior work with academic institutions or student groups in a leadership capacity.
